About Sarah

A blog about a personal love affair with food. I began cooking in my teens, interestingly starting with cake making and decorating, the core of my business. Back then though I branched rapidly into other areas. I don’t believe I am a sophisticated cook, preferring hearty Mediterranean style food over fine dining.

I spent two months in Northern Italy as an au pair with an Italian family when I was 19 and I’m certain a lot of my cooking influences stem from that time, not just with the food the family cooked but with that of their neighbours, friends and local (and not so local) establishments I was lucky enough to try.

These days simplicity is very much the key to success and at the heart of the every day cooking I do. I can easily spend all day in the kitchen working on cakes for clients consequently the prospect of throwing something together for supper in twenty minutes and still managing to use the more obscure members of the ever-present veg box is always the goal. Despite that though I still see the kitchen as a haven to hide away in, a space to de-stress in, a place to create and develop ideas without too much scrutiny and certainly not the scene of endless chores.

But that’s all a bit sentimental and serious, not my style at all. Surely we are all here to have fun, check out the link  from You Tube

someone’s having fun!

but maybe that sort of fun will give us indigestion!

More importantly, here’s The Cutest Cakes Home Page and there are also updates via Facebook (see link on the side bar) The Cutest Cakes page.

Finally, I am also developing additional Top Pages like this one and the Home page, with some of the more salient points like recipes and baking tips and know-how. Recipes without the crap  chat is up and running, and now the Baking related page is too!

Hi, I’m looking for a modelling chocolate recipe, I haven’t yet found one that works. Have you got a recipe? Or know someone who does?

    Sam 🙂

I’ll email you the details for plastique over the weekend but Regal Ice, as well as making sugar paste and coloured versions, also make chocolate flavoured paste too so that might be easier. I have not tried this but if you add Tylo powder to that I expect you could model with it.
Will send you the plastique too though. X
